Matthias Hartmann has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Techem Group since January 16, 2020. As Chairman of the Management Board, he is responsible for the fortunes of the Eschborn-based company, which operates in 19 countries, together with Dr. Carsten Sürig, Chief Financial Officer, and Nicolai Kuß, Chief Sales Officer. Until joining Techem, Matthias Hartmann was Chairman of the Management Board of IBM Deutschland GmbH and General Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Previously, he was, among other his other positions, Chairman of the Management Board of the global market research company GfK SE. His term of office included the transformation of the company into a global product and solution provider as well as the digital orientation of the company. Prior to this, he held various national and international management positions at IBM in Germany and the US, expanding the global services business for strategy, digital transformation and business development.
Nicolai Kuß has been Chief Sales Officer (CSO) and a member of the Management Board of Techem GmbH since the end of March 2019. In this position, he is responsible for all activities that pertain to the company’s customers, in particular Sales and Customer Management, as well as the Contracting division. Nicolai Kuß already served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Techem since December 2016 and is thus responsible for the operating business. A graduate in business administration, he began his career in 1999 at the management consultancy Ernst & Young and subsequently gained extensive experience in the real estate industry: For example, he worked in the German management of the Fortress Investment Group and was then responsible for the operational business of the GAGFAH Group for six years as COO and member of the Executive Board. Before joining Techem, he was Chief Investment Officer and member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Immobilien Chancen Group.
Dr. Carsten Sürig has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as well as a member of the Management Board of Techem GmbH since the April 2019. In this role, he is responsible for the Finance, Accounting & Tax, Controlling & BI, Risk & Performance Management. Furthermore, he leads the corporate-wide transformation program ENERGIZE-T. Dr. Sürig studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen (University of Technology) and earned his doctorate (Dr-Ing.) in solid-state physics directly afterwards as assistant professor. As senior partner at McKinsey & Company, Inc., Düsseldorf, he has more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry and as a member of the leadership group of McKinsey’s European Electric Power & Natural Gas Practice.
Andreas Umbach is the Chairman of the Techem Board and an expert on Smart Grid/Smart Metering. He was President and CEO/COO of Landis+Gyr Group AG from 2002 until its IPO in 2017. He has been its non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2017. Before joining Landis+Gyr, Andreas Umbach headed the Metering Division within Siemens’ Power Transmission and Distribution Group.
He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of SIG Combibloc Group AG since its IPO in 2018. Since 2020, he has been Chairman of the Board of the privately held company Rovensa SA. Andreas Umbach holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, US, and a degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Berlin.

Dr. Eric Strutz is Vice Chairman and Lead Independent Director of the Board of Directors of Partners Group Holding AG and Chairman of the Risk & Audit Committee established by the Board of Directors. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Partners Group’s portfolio companies Techem and Global Blue. Furthermore, he is a member of the Board of Directors of HSBC Bank plc. and Chairman of the Risk and Audit Committee of HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG. Until March 2012, Dr. Eric Strutz was Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board of Managing Directors of Commerzbank AG, and previously a member of the management of Boston Consulting.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Ann-Kristin Achleitner has been a member of the Advisory Board since October 2020. The economist earned her doctorate at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and, after holding the Chair of Entrepreneurial Finance there from 2001-2020, is Distinguished Affiliated Professor at the Technical University of Munich. The former management consultant is also active as a venture capitalist and has many years of experience in advisory bodies and supervisory board work in German and international companies, such as the French energy company Engie SA. She currently serves on the Supervisory Boards of Linde and Münchener Rück AG reinsurance company, as well as on the International Advisory Board of Investcorp. On the Techem Board, she chairs the Nomination & Compensation Committee (NCC).

Dr. Jürgen Diegruber is a Partner of Partners Group AG, Baar/Switzerland, heads Partners Group’s Munich/Germany office and is part of the European Private Equity Business Unit. Among his other positions, he is a member of the Board of Partners Group’s portfolio company Hofmann Menue Manufaktur.
He started in consulting in 1991, was co-founder and Managing Partner of Bossard Consultants GmbH and has been active in the private equity industry for more than 25 years. He chaired the Nomination & Compensation Committee (NCC) of the Techem Board until the end of Sept 2020. He holds a PhD in business administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG).

Michael Barben supports the development of portfolio companies of the Partners Group Private Infrastructure business. He is a member of the Board of Directors / Supervisory Board of Fermaca and VSB Holding as well as of the Advisory Board of Techem, here as an expert on energy contracting and decentralized supply solutions. Previously, he was with Partners Group since 2000 in various roles, most recently as Co-Head of the Private Infrastructure Business Department and Chairman of the Private Infrastructure Investment Committee. He has 27 years of industry experience and has worked for Zurmont Management and SBC Warburg, among other employers. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland. He is also a CFA charterholder, a certified Swiss equity trader and holds the title of Financial Risk Manager.

Lukas Bucher is a member of Partners Group’s European Private Equity Services Business Unit. He joined Partners Group in 2008 and has 19 years of industry experience. He has been part of the Techem Advisory Board since 2018. He also represents Partners Group on the boards of Foncia, International Schools Partnership and Key Retirement Group. Prior to joining Partners Group, he worked at The Boston Consulting Group. He holds an MBA degree from the private university INSEAD, Paris, and a Master’s degree in industrial engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich.

Andreas Holzmüller is Managing Director of Partners Group (EU) GmbH and has been with Partners Group since 2008. He is a member of the Advisory Boards of Techem and the toy manufacturer Schleich and was part of the Advisory Board of the real estate services provider Foncia from 2016 to 2019. Prior to joining Partners Group, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a Master’s degree in finance and accounting from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland.

Albrecht von Alvensleben is Managing Director of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) and leads its private equity activities in Europe. He has over 15 years of experience in majority and minority investments in private and listed companies and joined CDPQ in London in 2017. Previously, he worked at Wendel, a long-term investment holding company listed in Paris, and Lehman Brothers. Albrecht von Alvensleben holds an MBA from INSEAD, Paris, and an MSc in Management from ESCP-EAP European School of Management.

Marvin Teubner joined Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in London in 2011 and has more than 15 years of private equity experience. He has been involved in various transactions and led the acquisitions of CeramTec, Synlab, and Lowell, among others, of which he is currently also a board member. Prior to joining Ontario Teachers’, he worked for Rhône Capital, a middle market private equity fund, and Warburg Pincus. Marvin Teubner holds a BA in economics and operations research from Columbia University.
