Matthias Hartmann has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Techem Group since January 16, 2020. As Chairman of the Management Board, he leads the company together with Dr.-Ing. Carsten Sürig, Chief Financial Officer, and Nicolai Kuß, Chief Sales Officer. Techem operates in 18 countries. Before joining Techem, Matthias Hartmann served as Chairman of the Management Board of IBM Deutschland GmbH and as General Manager for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Prior to that, he was CEO of the globally active market research company GfK SE. There, he supported the company’s transformation into a global product and solutions provider and advanced its digital strategy. Earlier in his career at IBM, he held various national and international leadership roles in Germany and the United States, where he helped build the global services business for strategy, digital transformation, and business development.
Nicolai Kuß has been Chief Sales Officer (CSO) and a member of the Management Board of Techem GmbH since the end of March 2019. In this role, he is responsible for all customer-related activities, particularly sales and customer management, as well as the company’s contracting division. Since December 2016, Nicolai Kuß had already served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Techem, overseeing operational business. The graduate in business administration began his career in 1999 at consulting firm Ernst & Young and subsequently gained extensive experience in the real estate sector. He held a management role at Fortress Investment Group in Germany and later spent six years as COO and member of the Management Board of the GAGFAH Group, where he oversaw operational business. Before joining Techem, he was Chief Investment Officer and member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Immobilien Chancen Group.
Dr.-Ing. Carsten Sürig has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and a member of the Management Board of the Techem Group since April 2019. In this role, he is responsible for finance, accounting and tax, controlling and business intelligence, as well as risk and performance management. In addition, he leads the company-wide transformation program ENERGIZE-T. Dr.-Ing. Carsten Sürig studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University and earned his doctorate as an assistant professor in solid-state physics. As a former Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company in Düsseldorf, he brings more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry and was a member of the leadership group of McKinsey’s European Electric Power & Natural Gas Practice.
