To continuously improve our sustainability performance, we measure our successes, engage with our stakeholders and involve our employees. In doing so, we focus our attention on the key issues where we can exert considerable influence. The topic of sustainability is an integral part of all company divisions at Techem. We thus assume responsibility for the environment and society.
The Techem Sustainability Program summarizes all the goals we have defined as part of a strategy process and on the basis of our materiality analysis. We have made considerable progress since the publication of our first Sustainability Report in 2021. Key achievements include developing a roadmap to climate neutrality in Scope 1-3 by 2045, conducting life cycle assessments for selected equipment, and switching to green electricity for our own use at all Techem sites. Also, 100 percent of our offers for heating solutions include a renewable energy alternative.
We focus our commitment on what is most important. Our sustainability activities are therefore based on our materiality analyses which was updated with regard to double materiality to meet the future regulations of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). It was carried out in four phases.
Our actions are based on a holistic understanding of sustainability, which includes the protection of the climate and the environment, making a contribution to society, and ethical company management (Environment, Social, Governance). To this end, we have committed ourselves to concrete measures and binding targets within these three focal areas. An excerpt of our key performance indicators:
The purpose of our company is to achieve climate neutrality in buildings. The focus is on efficient and smart building technology - effectively reducing energy consumption and CO2e emissions for heating and hot water with the involvement of owners and tenants. Techem also wants to focus on CO2e-neutral heating solutions when equipping new construction projects and gradually replace existing fossil-fuel heating systems with lower-emission technologies.

They form the backbone of our company: our more than 4,000 employees who are committed to the energy transition in the building sector worldwide. We offer them a safe and attractive working environment and focus on holistic training and development. By fiscal year 2025, we want to increase the number of women in management positions and are therefore providing them with targeted support - by introducing a women’s quota in our trainee program, for example.

We place great importance on acting with integrity, which we embed throughout the company via our Techem Code of Conduct and our compliance management system.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. These 17 goals with a total of 169 sub-goals are designed to help policymakers, business and civil society address the greatest economic, social and environmental challenges.
At Techem, we are committed to the SDGs and contribute directly to their implementation through our business model. Our greatest impact, however, comes from the goals that are directly linked to our products and services. With this in mind, we have identified six goals and ten sub-goals of particular relevance
Ensure a healthy life for all people of all ages and promote their well-being (SDG 3): Our legionella testing or smoke alarm service contribute to the residential health of tenants.
Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all (SDG 6): We create transparency on water consumption and thus raise awareness for resource-saving management. We also ensure water quality with legionella testing and drinking water technology.

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and support innovation (SDG 9): Around 63 million Techem devices for recording heat, water, cooling and electricity, as well as smoke alarms, are in use worldwide. Already 84 percent of these are radio-capable.
Make cities and settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable (SDG 11): We are focusing on neighborhood solutions. This will enable us to effectively embed sustainable heat supply and mobility solutions.
Take immediate action to address climate change and its impacts (SDG 13): We contribute to the proper use of heat and hot water through public relations work. We also provide tenants with transparency on their consumption during the year.
